KREISEL Electric Collaborates with SUNCAR to Advance Electric Construction Machinery

SCHLIEREN, Switzerland – KREISEL Electric is collaborating with SUNCAR, a system integrator focused on electrifying construction machinery. Together they are about to enhance the performance and efficiency of electric vehicles in the construction sector. This partnership aims to support the industry’s transition to sustainable practices.

CEO Stefan Schneider emphasized SUNCAR’s vision, stating, “We started in 2015 with a vision to help the construction industry to go electric. We want to push the limits for energy efficiency and drive with maximum performance and zero emissions.” The collaboration has led to the integration of KREISEL battery systems in various machines, including a six-ton excavator equipped with two 60 kWh batteries.

Schneider also noted the advantages of the battery systems, saying, “We have seen good average consumption to run a full working day. Here it’s a very good fit between charging speed, lifetime, and operation time of the battery.”

Moreover, the Dynamic Performance Management, which utilizes patented cell immersion cooling technology and advanced software systems from KREISEL, ensures adequate pre-heating or cooling under various weather conditions, so that the battery always operates within optimal temperature levels. This is essential for both immediate and long-term performance.

“Safety is also a very relevant topic for us,” Schneider added. “We rely on certified, off-the-shelf battery systems from KREISEL.” He highlighted the importance of modularity in the battery design, stating, “We need to also arrange the batteries as we are doing here in our excavator. Putting them on the side, on the other corner and laying them down. With the KREISEL batteries, you have flexible arrangement possibilities.”

The collaboration between KREISEL and SUNCAR has proven to be effective, with Schneider mentioning, “After ten years of working together, we are happy to say that it’s a handshake quality collaboration on the same level.” The technical expertise and support from KREISEL have been significant for SUNCAR’s system integration needs.

Additionally, Schneider noted the logistical advantages of working with a European partner: “For our system integration, it was always relevant that we have suppliers nearby in Europe. We need to be innovative. We need to be fast. KREISEL is in Austria, which is easy to collaborate with.”
