Electrification in road construction: Hamm relies on batteries from KREISEL Electric
“The combination of a powerful electric drive and KREISEL Electric’s battery technology makes the new tandem rollers a pioneering solution for sustainable road construction.”
Hamm is expanding its portfolio with a new model of articulated tandem rollers: the HX 70e VV-S. The fully electric roller uses the powerful lithium-ion battery from KREISEL Electric and supports the construction industry in meeting CO₂ targets for sustainable road construction. Additionally, the HX 70e VO-S variant with oscillation drum is offered. Both models are initially intended for use on urban construction sites in Europe.
Efficient, quiet, and fast to charge
The HX 70e uses proven components, including the 400‑volt battery from KREISEL Electric with a capacity of 63 kWh. Charging is done via a Type 2 plug, and additional options such as Type 1, J1772, and CCS will follow. With the fast‑charging option, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in less than one hour.
In operation, the new tandem rollers impress with their efficiency and significantly quieter electric drive. The oscillation variant in particular benefits from the combination of low‑noise oscillation and electric drive, making it ideal for noise‑ and vibration‑sensitive areas such as hospitals or historic buildings.
Performance on par with diesel machines
The HX 70e delivers the same compaction performance as diesel-powered models and even achieves higher peak output. Operation remains nearly identical, supplemented by new symbols on the display for an intuitive user experience.
Less maintenance, lower operating costs
Thanks to the elimination of diesel engine–specific maintenance and the robust high-voltage components, operators benefit from reduced operating costs. In addition, the new models—just like their diesel-powered counterparts—can be connected to the John Deere Operations Center.
