Frost & Sullivan honors Kreisel’s battery pack with award and as ‘lightest’ on the market

Press Release
1. August 2017

With its unique battery technology Kreisel Electric is, according to global emerging tech consultancy Frost & Sullivan, a global leader in electromobility. The consultancy’s Industry Manager Prajyot N. Sathe is convinced: “Kreisel ensures that its battery pack offers maximum capacity with minimum weight. The company features the safest lithium-ion cells with a guaranteed service life of 400,000 kms: This makes it unique and remains the lightest battery on the market.”

Kreisel’s EV technology was recently honored by Frost & Sullivan, winning the 2017 European Electric Vehicle Technology Leadership Awards in London. By watching the market and comparing the existing solutions, Frost & Sullivan pointed out that the unique technology for next-generation lithium-ion batteries gives Kreisel Electric a distinct competitive advantage in the electric vehicle market.

To produce these award-winning battery packs at scale the fast-growing company founded by the three Kreisel brothers is on track to open a new 7,000 m² production facility in Rainbach (Austria) in September this year.

Kreisel Electric CEO Christian Schlögl said:

“The investment costs for our new operations were around €14 million euros. This helped pay for an integrated 1,000 kWh battery storage system and a 200 kWp photovoltaic system, which will ensure our new production facility can complete uninterrupted work for a week. With 70 current employees, Kreisel can now work on 42 electromobility projects. By the end of 2018, our company hopes to have expanded its workforce to 200.”

About Kreisel Electric GmbH & Co KG

The passion for speed and electronic mobility motivates the entrepreneurial actions of the three Kreisel brothers from Freistadt, Upper Austria. Driven by the vision of integrating the electric drive in all areas of mobility, Philipp, Johann jun. and Markus have developed the lightest weight and most efficient battery solutions for e-mobility. These were put into use in numerous applications ever since 2014.

The range of applications put into practise, together with various partners, include e-karts, jet skis, electric bikes and scooters, as well as cars, busses and commercial vehicles up to ships and airplanes. In collaboration with industry partners Kreisel implements complex projects containing the development of power trains, charging technology and software. The stationary storage battery MAVERO was presented by the company in summer 2016, followed by the Kreisel Power Charger, an innovative fast-charging station in January 2017.

Due to the special assembling and the innovative thermal management, mobile and stationary power storages profit from the high-performance battery technology developed by Kreisel. To meet the global demand for battery packs, Kreisel Electric is currently erecting its first factory for large-scale production in Rainbach, Austria. At a range of other locations, the storage battery packs will be produced under licence by partners who are car manufacturers, fleet operators, and cab or transport companies.

Kreisel Electric opens its new high-tech research and development center as its headquarters today in Rainbach, Mühlkreis district, Upper Austria.
