Kreisel Electric batteries set to power the E1 Series RaceBirds

Press Release
10. June 2021
The E1 Series and Kreisel Electric have joined forces to bring the world’s first electric powerboat championship to the water.

Rainbach, 10th June 2021 – Kreisel Electric will supply the battery for each electric RaceBird powerboat competing in the E1 Series, set to begin in 2022.

Using innovative hydrofoil technology, the electric RaceBird powerboats will rise above the water’s surface, allowing for minimum drag and maximum energy efficiency. With a maximum peak power of 150kW and 35 kWh battery capacity, Kreisel’s bespoke solution for the RaceBirds will enable them to achieve fast acceleration and longer range between charges.

Rodi Basso, Co-Founder & CEO of E1, “E1 and Kreisel’s shared vision to electrify future leisure craft made them the obvious choice as official battery partner for the championship. Electrification has a vital role to play in the decarbonization of the ocean, seas and rivers, and Kreisel’s cutting-edge battery technology will allow us to deliver on our mission to revolutionize marine mobility. As an engineer, I’m so excited to be working alongside leaders in their field to deliver an electric powerboat and push the boundaries of performance capability.”

“We are very proud that our high-performance battery solution will energize the E1 powerboat championship. The cooperation with E1 allows us to showcase the incredible power that Kreisel Batteries can deliver. As the electrification of cars and commercial traffic is the new standard, we now must take the next steps, towards sustainable marine solutions. The compliance of all our batteries to the DNV-GL marine standard allows us to push the scope of application beyond anything thought possible.” Markus Kreisel, Founder and Managing Director of Kreisel Electric

Kreisel pioneers the electric-vehicle battery industry with their customizable state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery module technology by achieving short development times while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and performance. Due to the patented immersion cooling technology, Kreisel modules were chosen to set a new benchmark for delivering the required continuous high-power output for the RaceBird.

Kreisel’s industry-leading immersion cooling technology has applications in both electric motorsport and powerboating. They have pioneered innovations in electrification as the exclusive powertrain provider of the FIA World RX1e Racing Kit, as well as helping to develop the drivetrain for the SAY29E Runabout Carbon.

Working alongside industry stalwarts, Kreisel Electric is at the forefront of the shift towards electrification in both the marine and automotive sectors.

About E1 Series

The E1 Series is the world’s first electric powerboat racing series. The series was established to create an exciting, competitive racing platform to promote sustainable electric watercraft and reduce the environmental pressures being placed on the ocean, rivers and lakes. The UIM E1 World Electric Powerboat Series will see up to 12 teams competing on the water in spectacular global race locations. The pilots will tackle tight and technical circuits, reaching speeds close to 50 knots (93 km/h or 58 mph) behind the wheel of the RaceBird powerboats designed by SeaBird Technologies and Victory Marine.
